Exciting New Chapter Begins for Lamlash Community Hub
The Lamlash Community Hub has taken a major step forward in its vision to bring the former Lamlash Church into community ownership.
Thanks to the Hart Knowe Trust’s incredibly generous support, the building has been purchased to ensure it remains available for community use. The Trust has granted the Lamlash Community Hub an immediate and exclusive lease on the property, providing a unique opportunity to begin planning and using the building while also raising the final £75,000 needed to purchase it outright for the community of Lamlash and Arran.
This landmark arrangement secures the future of one of the village’s best-loved and most prominent buildings and enables the Hub to proceed with its ambitious plans to create a vibrant, flexible community space for local groups, events, activities and visitors, while carefully preserving an important part of Lamlash’s heritage.
Over the coming year, Lamlash Community Hub will launch a programme of fundraising events and pursue grant applications to complete the purchase. Organisers are inviting the whole community to join the journey, with opportunities to volunteer, donate and help shape the future of this exciting new community asset. There will soon be plenty of ways to get involved, with further community engagement events to be announced in the coming weeks.

We envision a flexible, multi-use space that adapts to the diverse needs of our community, offering everything from event spaces for groups and cultural gatherings to co-working areas for digital nomads. By preserving the unique character of the church building while incorporating modern amenities and technology, we aim to create a welcoming environment where creativity flourishes, connections are forged, and businesses thrive. This revitalised space will not only honour the building’s rich heritage but also contribute to the economic and social vitality of our community for years to come.
